Subscription

Compare plans, buy or change one, add seats, and cancel — including what cancelling actually does.

Prices and available plans are deliberately not duplicated here, because the authenticated Subscription screen is authoritative for your account. Enterprise terms are agreed with BriefCatch rather than self-served.

The screen is called Plans in the navigation: what you are on, what else exists, and how to move between them. Billing is the money side — invoices and payment method.

An older /subscription address still works and sends you to the same place.

Who can open it

  • Individuals manage their own subscription.
  • Organization owners manage the organization’s.
  • Everyone else is redirected away, including organization admins. Plans and Billing are owner-only surfaces and do not appear in the navigation for other roles.

An admin who follows a link there lands on Usage and credits; a member lands on the dashboard. Neither is an error. See Roles and permissions.

What it shows

A comparison of the tiers with what each includes, your current plan marked, and the action that applies to you — upgrade, get a quote, or manage what you have. For a walkthrough of the tiers themselves see Plans and licenses.

Your current plan card carries the state: Trial, Active, Non-renewing, Paused, Cancelled, or Expired, plus the next renewal date or, for a cancelled plan, when access ends.

Cancel plan
The plan comparison on a Pro account: current plan marked, seat minimums and credit allowances shown per tier, Enterprise priced as a quote rather than a number.

Buying or changing a plan

Checkout is handled by BriefCatch’s payment provider. You are handed to their page, complete payment there, and come back to a confirmation.

A few things behave in ways worth knowing in advance:

  • Team plans have a seat minimum. Checkout will not accept fewer seats than the tier allows.
  • A successful checkout can take a moment to appear. Payment confirmation is processed asynchronously. Refresh before retrying — a second attempt is a second subscription.
  • If you cancel at the payment page, nothing is charged, and BriefCatch says so explicitly.
  • Enterprise is a conversation, not a checkout. The action is a quote request.

Seats

On a team plan, Add Seat increases the seat count and the pooled credit allowance with it. The change is billed by the provider under your existing subscription.

Reducing seats is not symmetrical with adding them: reductions take effect against the billing term rather than immediately. Check the subscription screen after any seat change to confirm what you are being billed for.

Cancelling

Cancel Plan does not end access immediately. The subscription becomes non-renewing: it stays active to the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. You keep working until then.

Cancel

Confirm at the dialog. It states that the plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.

Non-renewing

The plan keeps working. Nothing else changes, and no further charge is made.

The term ends

The license lapses and the account drops to read-only — documents stay readable and exportable, uploading and analysis stop. See Plans and licenses.

Resubscribe restores auto-renewal on a non-renewing subscription before the term ends, which is the cheapest way to undo a cancellation you regret. After the term has ended, resubscribing is a new purchase.

When something fails

  • “No active subscription found” — nothing to manage yet. Start from the plan comparison.
  • “Couldn’t open the payment page” — the provider could not be reached. Retry rather than refreshing repeatedly.
  • You are redirected away instead of seeing the screen — Plans and Billing are owner-only. Ask the owner. See Roles and permissions.

Never send full card details or a password to support. If a purchase looks stuck, give support the time, the plan, and the type of purchase instead.
